Questions about our rigid mesh, privacy screens, gates or side gates? We have the answers!
- What is the difference between Pro and Pro+ panels?
We offer two ranges of welded rigid panels: Pro and Pro+. Pro rigid panels have 5 mm horizontal wires and 4 mm vertical wires. They are generally used in residential settings. Pro+ panels have 5 mm horizontal and vertical wires, offering greater rigidity thanks to stronger welds. They are mainly used by professionals, for industrial use and for fencing facing more demanding conditions.
- How do I build a fence with corners?
After several studies, we stopped splitting posts into two types (corner or non-corner) to make installation easier. As a result, our posts are versatile: the panels slot into the post notches, then can pivot thanks to a notch system designed for this. In other words, our posts form the corners. In addition, if your fence is installed on concrete plinths, an extra post is required for every corner.
- Where do our products come from and how long are they guaranteed?
Most of our products, such as our flexible fencing, rigid mesh, PVC slats, garden gates, barred side gates and aluminium fencing, are manufactured in Europe, for example in Spain and Portugal. Product origin is stated in the “Product details” section. Thanks to this European quality, we guarantee these products for 10 years against corrosion.
- Which fence should I choose to keep animals out of my garden?
Some outdoor animals, such as wild boar, would sometimes like to enjoy your garden uninvited! To prevent this, we recommend a sturdy fence using our Pro+ panels together with concrete plinths. These concrete walls will stop wild animals from digging under the fence. It is also an ideal solution if you have dogs that like to dig. - What types of fencing are available for my outdoor space?
At Districlos, a wide range of fences is available so you can find the one that suits your land. The most common fence is rigid mesh. Affordable and robust, it suits various installation types while remaining a classic choice!
To keep the security of rigid mesh while adding a touch of originality outdoors, opt for barred fencing, used in private residences or public spaces.
Then, aluminium fencing is an excellent alternative for a modern, elegant look! It is very on-trend and dresses your outdoor space while remaining weather-resistant.
Finally, our flexible mesh range is perfect for fencing large areas at a low price. Welded mesh, chain-link mesh or electrically welded mesh: there’s no shortage of choice!
- Which material is most suitable for my fence?
Several factors should be taken into account when choosing a material: the look of your house, your budget, your geographical area, the level of privacy and security you want, and so on. Here’s a recap:
- Aluminium and galvanised steel: these are the most common materials! Elegant and strong, they make durable fences that require no particular maintenance. Some steel and aluminium ranges can be quite expensive.
- Composite: with a natural look, it is winning over more and more homeowners. Highly weather-resistant, the composite slat helps preserve the privacy of your garden.
- PVC: PVC privacy slats are the most economical option and come in different forms: to weave, reed-style, strips or slats. Their screening power is fairly high, with little maintenance required.
- Wooden fencing: its natural look brings warmth to your outdoor space. Fairly affordable, it does however require a little more maintenance and ages over time.
Contact our experts so they can guide you through your fencing project!
- What fence height is allowed in my area?
Regulations vary depending on your municipality. Our advice: contact the local urban planning department (PLU) or your town hall to find out the specific rules that apply.
Several factors will determine your choice of fence:
- The area you live in (residential, industrial or commercial)
- Proximity to neighbouring properties
- Visibility around your property
Finally, safety rules around swimming pools or sports grounds apply in every geographical area.
- How do I choose the best fence to secure my property?
To improve and strengthen the security of your home, several factors should be taken into account:
- The height of your fence should be high enough to deter intruders.
- The fence must be sturdy and properly installed. It can include defensive spikes to make it harder to climb.
For extra security, install CCTV cameras along the fence and motion-sensor lighting. This often deters intruders from accessing your property.
- What design and style options are available for fences?
To customise your fence and add privacy, you can choose a specific screen. Natural screening such as reed screening or heather screening, artificial hedging or fabric screening… Many alternatives are available! Rigid fencing comes in various colours: green, anthracite grey, black or white… Your choice can depend on the outdoor look you want.
- How do I maintain my fence so it stays in good condition?
As a general rule, a fence requires very little maintenance. However, a few tips can help extend its lifespan.
- Remove dirt using warm soapy water.
- Check the condition of the slats and replace any damage quickly.
- Avoid installing climbing plants, which can damage the fence.
- Take care when maintaining your lawn. A lawnmower can, for example, damage your fence. Opt for a plinth if needed.
- Do I need a permit to install a fence in my area?
Regulations vary from one region to another. Check this information with your local authority and your municipality’s PLU. In most cases a permit is not required, but it can depend on the height of the fence, its location and the type of mesh.
- How do I choose a professional to install my fence?
To choose the right professional for your project, don’t hesitate to ask friends and family for recommendations. We can also suggest installers near you. Feel free to ask your nearest Districlos store or our advisors on 04 22 53 10 34.
Request quotes, check licences and insurance, and above all ask every question you have. That way you can choose a professional you can trust!
