What size should I choose for my privacy screen panel?
It all depends on your needs and your property! Indeed, if you simply wish to protect yourself from prying eyes, a height of 1.80 m may suffice. However, if your garden is visible from your neighbors’ windows, you can opt for a panel of 2.00 m or more.
Regarding its thickness, this varies according to your needs. If you wish to be able to transport your panel easily from one place to another, a thickness of approximately 18 mm will be perfect. For a permanent partition and if you live in a windy region, favor a panel of about thirty millimeters.
Caution! Installing a fence with screening is not recommended on a fence fixed with base plates and/or in case of wind exposure regardless of the fixing system.

Installing a PVC panel on rigid mesh fencing
Create your own PVC privacy panel with screening slats to slide into your rigid mesh fencing:
- First, install the slat feet (x4) per panel. The rounded part of the slat foot must be in the opposite direction to the protruding fold of the panel.
- Next, install the 2 end slats (43 mm width) by sliding them from the top of the panel to the bottom of the lower part of the slat foot.
- Install the fold profiles by sliding them inside the panel profile (x2 units per length). Then slide the 2 profiles toward each other so as to leave no gap between the two.
- Then insert the intermediate slats (48 mm) by sliding them from the top of the panel to the bottom of the lower part of the slat foot.
- Finally, install the finishing profiles (x2 per panel). The flat part of the profile must be in the same direction as the protruding folds of the panel. Slide the two parts toward each other so as to leave no gap between the two.
Installing wooden slats on rigid mesh fencing
If you have existing rigid mesh fencing, you can create your own wooden panel!
- First, install the two end slats (43 mm width) by sliding them at the ends of the panel, starting from top to bottom until reaching the last wire.
- Then install the triangular profiles by sliding them inside the “V”-shaped profiles of the panel (each triangular profile is separated into two parts for easier installation). Then slide each of the two parts of the triangular profile toward each other so as not to leave any gap between the two.
- Once these steps are completed, install all the vertical intermediate slats x43 (48 mm) from top to bottom until reaching the wire level, in the same manner as in step 1.
- To finish, once your vertical slats are properly aligned and level with the spikes above your panel, insert a nail using the manual nailer to secure the vertical slat to the horizontal one behind it.
Installing a wooden privacy screen panel without existing mesh fencing
- As with a standard fence, mark out the area where your privacy screen panels will be installed. Drive a stake at the location of the 1st post then another at the other end. Stretch a cord between the two.
- Measure the size of your panel and transfer this length in alignment with the cord. Position the marker stakes and dig a hole in these locations (approximately 40×40 cm).
- Insert the designated posts into their support and tighten the bolts. Install the fixing brackets and screw them onto the posts. Next, position the posts in the hole, and secure the brackets to the panel.
- Pour concrete into the post holes. Smooth it then allow to dry. Repeat the operation for all posts. Secure your panels using the dedicated fixing kit.
Regulations in force for installing a privacy screen panel
No need to worry! Installing a privacy panel on existing mesh fencing requires no authorization. However, check with your municipality’s local urban planning plan (PLU). Sometimes, colors or heights may be imposed. More information on this subject here: Privacy Screen Regulations.
