You have just started using your electric gate, but how should you react in the event of a power failure?
Especially since they are always unforeseen and systematically occur at the most unexpected moment. Unfortunately, you have left the remote controls in your car, which is in the garage, and you find yourself locked out. Now that technology governs our daily lives, how can you open an electric gate without needing a remote control? Here are a few solutions to help you avoid a panic.
Keypad or Key Lock for Opening
When installing your electric opening system, consider placing a code keypad directly integrated into your post. The keypad is extremely easy to use and allows the gate to be unlocked via a four-digit code. This is a very practical device if, for example, your children need to return home from school alone.
It’s simple, but it requires forethought. To open the gate with a key lock, simply attach a cylinder to the gate to allow it to be opened manually. Thus, even in the event of a power outage, it is possible to enter and exit. This option is suitable for practically all types of openings (sliding, swing…), whether fixed or with a swinging part.

Home Automation
The smart home is here! It is therefore possible to manage your electrical equipment remotely using mobile or tablet applications. Thus, with your smartphone, upon approaching your gate, you simply select the appropriate application and choose “open gate”. It will open as if by magic. This functionality can be installed on different smartphones, allowing all family members to manage the electric gate.
Alternative Options
Few homes are equipped with only an electric gate. Generally, you also have a wicket gate. A final option is to park your vehicle outside your property (on the street, in a parking lot…) and enter your home through the small gate! There are electric motors equipped with a safety device. They offer the possibility of opening the gate manually using a maneuver, a button, or a keypad, to be performed directly on the motor.
If you cannot find a solution among all our suggestions, you will have to be patient and wait for the electricity to return to open or close your gate…
