Are you looking for a gate that blends perfectly with your fence? You have come to the right place by choosing a mesh gate that adapts to any type of environment! It is not always easy to match a gate to a fence: materials, colors, size… Secure and practical, the mesh gate should not be overlooked when turning your garden into a true haven of peace. We will explain everything you need to know to have a harmonious garden and thus fully enjoy your outdoor space.
What exactly is a pedestrian gate?
Firstly, a mesh gate is a gate with a single leaf. It is generally smaller than a driveway gate (approximately 2m wide maximum) to allow only pedestrians to pass. Furthermore, it is often installed next to a driveway gate, but it can also be located in the middle of your fence. The primary purpose of a mesh gate is to secure access to your property. It allows pedestrian entry and exit to your home. For homes on the edge of a beach or forest, it also allows you to access them directly without going all the way around the house!
A wide range of gates
To find the gate of your dreams to match your fence, you can choose from a wide range of products. You can choose based on:
- The material: PVC, aluminum, wood, or mesh; each material is different and will bring a different feel to your garden.
- The infill: a solid gate is completely opaque, a semi-openwork gate lets just enough light through, and with an openwork gate, you can see right through! Alternatively, add a privacy screen for 100% opacity.
- The shape: straight, sloped, curved, arched, and inverted arch.
- The color: there are 4 “classic” colors that will match the same shade as your fence: Green RAL 6005, Anthracite Grey RAL 7016, Black RAL 9005, and White RAL 9010.
Please note: It is possible to have other gate shades upon request. To do this, contact our Districlos experts.
Strengths of the mesh gate
- Security: just like a driveway gate, a pedestrian gate secures your home by preventing unauthorized entry. Anyone wishing to access your garden must pass through the gate: it is up to you to decide who can enter or not! Additionally, it is entirely possible to add a gate automation system manageable remotely via a remote control or smartphone. You are in control!
- Easier access to your garden: we strongly recommend using a gate for large properties. You can place a mesh gate wherever you like on your fence to enter or exit without having to walk all the way around the garden.
- Versatile: the great strength of this gate is its ability to blend into any environment. Available in several colors, the mesh gate can be both modern or more traditional. It will also match the color of your fence: which is what we are going to look at right now!
How to pair your gate with your fence?

Green, grey, black, or white—the same colors are available to you! For the installation of your gate, you can choose between inground mounting or base plate mounting, just like your fence. Choose the height of your gate based on that of your fence; several options are available.

You will find 4 different colors for the bar gate as well as for the fence. This Nature model offers a natural, organic look to your garden while being ultra-sturdy.
Aluminum gate and aluminum fencing: pure modernity and simplicity! How can we talk about harmony without mentioning aluminum? There are a multitude of aluminum gates that will surely match your aluminum fence. More expensive than steel, the aluminum gate is a long-term solution thanks to aluminum being a very resistant material.
Did you know? There are also aluminum driveway gates! The perfect combo for a harmonious garden: a pedestrian gate, an aluminum driveway gate, and aluminum fencing. Your neighbors will be jealous…
Maintaining your mesh gate and rigid fencing
It is essential to learn about the maintenance of your fence. Some materials are more resistant than others and are not maintained in the same way. For example, wood must be treated because it is less resistant to bad weather.
For a resistant rigid fence and a mesh gate, there is no problem. You will simply need to clean them with lukewarm water and soap once a year. Note: remember to check the condition of the posts as well as the screws. These are the elements most impacted during windstorms or heavy rain. Tighten the screws correctly to maintain the structural integrity of your fence.
To avoid: do not use abrasive products such as bleach, chlorine, dish soap, laundry detergent, etc.
Regulations to know
Height and color: these are defined by the urban planning rules set by your local town hall. If nothing is specified and you live in a municipality with more than 50,000 inhabitants, you can have a fence of maximum 3.20m. For a municipality with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants, the maximum height is 2.60m.
Regarding the mesh gate, you should consult the Local Urban Plan (PLU). They will provide you with the heights to respect as well as the permitted colors. Also, you must pay attention to the opening direction of your gate: it must not encroach on public space! The gate must imperatively open towards the inside of your property. If you cannot open it inwards, consider sliding gates.
Installing your mesh gate with inground mounting
- Step 1: Layout Mark the installation line using a string. Measure the spacing between the two gate posts and mark the location of the holes to be dug with spray paint. Dig holes 30×30 cm and 40 cm deep. Prepare the concrete needed to fill the holes.
- Step 2: Setting the posts Position the post in the center of the hole. Check the levels and hold in place with wooden cleats, then seal with concrete. Repeat the operation with the second post and let it dry for a few hours.
- Step 3: Installing the door Install the door and hinges on the posts using the provided hardware. Install the handle and adjust the gate.
Good to know: you can trim the ends of the adjustable hinges and place the provided caps for a more aesthetic finish.
You now have all the keys to harmonize your mesh gate with your fence! Colors, heights, ease of installation… This product is perfect for being discreet and blending into its environment. Everything you need to enjoy your garden in complete safety!
