How does a key switch work?

The operation is straightforward: insert the key into the half-cylinder and turn it to open or close an electrical circuit, sending a control signal directly to your gate or door motor. This triggers your automation system to open or close, without the need for a remote control.

The CARDIN SELMEC/E1 operates in dead-man mode, meaning the action is only active while the key is turned. Once released, the command stops—an important safety feature for rolling shutters and security grilles.

For wiring, the switch connects directly to your automation control panel, supporting up to 30V and 2A. This universal key switch is compatible with most existing locking systems.
