- Extended memory capacity: This high-performance access control device can store up to 1,000 unique user codes. Each code can be up to 6 digits, providing maximum security and flexible management for multi-unit residential or commercial environments.

- Advanced features: The keypad's backlighting is fully programmable, allowing you to set the activation time or enable an automatic standby mode that turns off the lights 5 seconds after the last command. The system locks out further commands until a new code is entered.

How to connect the backlit keypad and interface

The DKS1000T keypad connects to the CARDIN interface using a single-core shielded cable, which supplies power and transmits digital data to the interface. This wiring ensures stable communication, even over long distances between the post and the gate motor.

The interface, powered at 12/24V AC-DC, features 4 NO relay outputs, each corresponding to a separate control channel.

User management is straightforward: a single multifunction button on the interface lets you add or delete codes. The interface can control up to three devices at once—keypads or badge readers—making it suitable for collective installations both indoors and outdoors.

Can I add a keypad to my gate? +

Yes, you can. If your gate is motorized, it typically includes a control input that's compatible with most keypads on the market. The keypad connects to this input using a dry contact, making it a universal solution for both new and older gate openers.

You have two main options: a wired keypad, which requires running a cable between the keypad and the gate motor, or a wireless keypad powered by batteries, which is easy to mount on an existing post.

If your gate is manual, you can still install a keypad paired with an electric strike on the adjacent pedestrian gate. For added security, some systems offer two-factor authentication, combining a PIN code with an RFID badge—ideal for commercial or shared access points.

What’s the difference between a keypad entry system and an intercom? +

These two devices serve different purposes, though they’re often installed together. A keypad entry system (digicode) is a code-based access control: it simply grants or denies entry based on the code entered, without any voice interaction with visitors.

An intercom, on the other hand, is primarily a two-way communication system. It lets you speak with someone at the entrance before granting access, using a microphone and speaker. Some intercoms also include a camera—these are called video intercoms.

The two systems complement each other: the keypad allows residents who know the code to enter independently, while the intercom lets you screen and welcome visitors.
