L25 Fence Support Brace

The brace post height should match the height of the T-post you’re using. For a 5 ft fence, use 6.5 ft posts (to allow for 1.5 ft set in concrete) and brace posts of the same length. As a general rule, add about 10 inches to your fence height to determine the minimum length needed for your brace post.

Attach the brace at two-thirds of the visible height of the post, making sure the pre-drilled holes in the steel brace line up with those in the post. Use 6 x 16 mm bolts and nuts to secure both parts together, positioning the brace at a 45° angle to the ground.

The ideal angle for a brace post is 45° from the ground. This position provides the best balance between stability and structural strength, helping to evenly distribute the forces on the fence post. If the angle is too shallow, the support will be less effective; if it's too steep, the brace won't provide enough reinforcement for your fence.

The number required depends on your layout: plan for two brace posts at each corner, one at each end of the fence, and add one extra brace post every 82 feet along straight sections. To estimate the total, divide your fence perimeter by 82 and add the brace posts needed for corners and ends.

The standard spacing between fence braces is a maximum of 82 feet on straight sections of your fence. If the distance between two corners on your property is greater than 82 feet, you should install two additional braces at the center post to help maintain the stability of the wire mesh fence.
