Tempo Post Extension for Barbed Wire

To make a fence overhang, you'll need to cut a steel profile—either T-section or tubular—then bend it to the desired angle, usually 45°. Drill holes for mounting and for wire passage. The piece should then be galvanized and powder-coated to ensure durability. This process requires specialized industrial tools, so purchasing a pre-made overhang is often more cost-effective.

To install a barbed wire arm on a Tempo post, simply slot it directly onto the top of the post after removing the cap. Secure the arm using the supplied bolts, then attach barbed wire or concertina wire to the designated attachment points.

Tempo overhangs are compatible only with Tempo and Tempo Clips posts. They're designed to fit seamlessly with the modular system of this post range, making installation straightforward thanks to a base specifically made for these models.

Barbed wire arms require minimal maintenance due to their anti-corrosion coating. Periodically check that all bolts are secure and tighten them if needed. Inspect the coating for any damage and remove surface rust with a wire brush before applying a suitable touch-up paint to help protect against the elements.

When installing barbed wire arms, you must follow local regulations. Check with your city or county office to confirm if your local zoning or planning rules allow this type of fencing. If you plan to install barbed wire arms along public roads, proper signage is required, and the arms should always face inward toward your property to prevent any risk to pedestrians.
