How to Choose Your Rigid Fence?
Solution #1: Ground-Set Installation
If you want to install your fence directly into the ground, ground-set installation with concrete footings is the solution for you.
- With kickboard: Installing a rigid fence with a kickboard requires level ground. Its advantages? Easy to maintain, your fence will also prevent your animals from passing underneath!
- Without kickboard: This more traditional rigid fence installation adapts to any type of garden.
Solution #2: Base Plate Installation
If, on the other hand, you want to install your fence on a low wall (or on concrete blocks or a concrete base), then base plate installation is perfectly suited to your needs.

Rigid Fence with Ground-Set Installation
Step 1: Dig holes 30 cm in diameter and 50 cm deep starting from the location of the first post, then every 2.53 meters (center to center of holes).
Step 2: Set your first post in concrete.
Expert Tip #2: Take care to position your posts so that the grooves of each post face each other!
Step 3: Attach your first panel into the grooves of the first set post, then attach this same panel to the second post. This installation is called “progressive” because you must install 1 post, then 1 panel, then 1 post, and so on.
Expert Tip #3: Use the installation shims to ensure proper tension of each panel on the posts.
Step 4: Two options:
- Option 1: Brace all panels plumb with wooden wedges or “props,” then set all the posts along the length in concrete.
- Option 2: Set the posts one by one in concrete as you install them.
Rigid Fence with Base Plate Installation
Step 1: Secure your first post on the base plate using the anchors.
Step 2: Attach your first panel into the grooves of the first post, then attach this same panel to the second post. As with ground-set installation, base plate installation is also called “progressive” because you must install 1 post, then 1 panel, then 1 post, and so on.
Step 3: Secure your last post on the base plate.
