How to measure for your composite fence
Start by measuring the total length of the area you want to fence. Use a tape measure or laser distance measurer to get the distance from the starting point to the end point. If your yard has multiple sides or corners, measure each section separately for accuracy.

Once you have your measurements, you can figure out how many fence sections you’ll need. Each section is the space between two posts and makes up one fence panel. Be sure to plan for a post at each end of the fence and between every section.
How to choose the height of your composite fence
The height of your fence depends on your needs. If you just want to mark your property line, a height between 4 and 5 feet is usually enough. This gives structure to your space while keeping good visibility.
If your goal is privacy and screening, it’s best to choose a height between 5.5 and 6 feet. This provides effective privacy while still looking good in your yard.
For maximum protection, especially if your property borders a street or is close to neighbors, you can go with a fence 6.5 feet or taller. Always check your local zoning regulations before installation to confirm allowed fence heights.

If your fence will be installed on a concrete slab, wall, or patio, posts can be mounted using base plates. This lets you secure the posts to an existing surface without digging.
For soil or a standard garden, the most secure option is to set the posts directly in concrete. This ensures excellent stability and long-term durability.

When planning your project, include a finishing profile for each post to close off the inside and give a clean look. The finishing profile should match the height of your chosen post.
