Follow our advice for a smooth setup and an impeccable result.     <\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you begin: preparation and essential tools<\/h2>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>Good preparation is the secret to a stress-free installation. Before you start, gather all the necessary equipment so you don&#8217;t have to hunt for a tool in the middle of the assembly. Ensure you have the items at hand that will save you precious time and guarantee the precision of your work.<br\/>Most of these tools are DIY basics, but their presence is decisive for the final quality of your installation. Here is what you will need:   <\/p>&#13;\n\r\n<ul>&#13;\n<li>A tape measure, a spirit level, and a carpenter&#8217;s pencil<\/li>&#13;\n\r\n\r\n&#13;\n<li>A drill-driver with drill bits suitable for your surface (concrete, breeze block)<\/li>&#13;\n\r\n\r\n&#13;\n<li>A set of open-ended wrenches or a socket wrench<\/li>&#13;\n\r\n\r\n&#13;\n<li>Robust wall plugs or chemical anchors<\/li>&#13;\n\r\n\r\n&#13;\n<li>A few wooden shims of different thicknesses<\/li>&#13;\n\r\n\r\n&#13;\n<li>Your protective equipment: gloves and goggles<\/li>&#13;\n<\/ul>\r\n&#13;\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Taking exact measurements: the key to a successful installation<\/h2>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>This is the step that determines everything else. An imprecise measurement and the entire project may not fit correctly. The main measurement to take is the width between your two pillars or posts. To avoid unpleasant surprises due to walls that are not perfectly straight, measure this width at three different heights: bottom, middle, and top. Keep the smallest of the three measurements. If you already have masonry pillars, check their solidity and verticality with a spirit level. A pillar that is not plumb will complicate the alignment of the gate. If the pillars are sound and straight, you can fix the hinges and the lock strike plate directly to them.   <\/p>&#13;\n<p>If you are starting from scratch, installing <strong>aluminum posts<\/strong> is an excellent solution, perfectly matching your gate. Setting them is the most important step for the durability of the whole assembly. Dig holes approximately 40 to 50 cm deep, position the posts, check their plumb in both directions with the level, then set them with quick-setting concrete. The solidity of your entire installation depends on the quality of this fixing.   <\/p>&#13;\n<h2>Installing the pedestrian gate on its hinges<\/h2>&#13;\n<p>This is the moment when your project really takes shape! Start by fixing the hinges to the pillar or the supporting post. Ensure they are perfectly aligned vertically one above the other. Once the hinges are in place, present the gate. Use wooden shims on the ground to hold it at the correct height, leaving a small gap of a few centimeters from the ground to avoid any friction.    <\/p>&#13;\n<p>Do not hesitate to get help for this step. Even though aluminum is a lightweight material, handling the leaf alone to align it with the hinges can be tricky. Once the gate is in place on the shims, all that remains is to screw it onto the hinges. Take your time to ensure everything is perfectly aligned before tightening for good.   <\/p>&#13;\n<h2>Installing the lock and handle to finalize access<\/h2>&#13;\n<p>The pedestrian gate is in place; all that remains is to install the closing system. Most of our <strong>aluminum pedestrian gates<\/strong> are pre-drilled to simplify the installation of the lock, cylinder, and handles. Simply follow the manual to assemble the various components.  <\/p>&#13;\n<p>The next step is to fix the strike plate, which is the fixed part on the receiving post where the lock bolt will engage. To position it perfectly, close the gate and operate the lock to extend the bolt. Mark its location on the post with a pencil. You then just need to fix the strike plate at this exact spot.   <\/p>&#13;\n<h2>Final adjustments for a perfect opening<\/h2>&#13;\n<p>Your <strong>aluminum pedestrian gate is installed<\/strong>.
