Regarding distances, the DTU 64.1 standard is very clear and imposes minimum distances for installing a septic tank.  <\/p>\n<p>Here are the distances to remember for the tank itself:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3 meters<\/strong> from property boundaries (and thus from your fence), or <strong>6m in the case of a slope break.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>5 meters<\/strong> from your dwelling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>35 meters<\/strong> from a well, catchment, or water source intended for human consumption.<\/li>\n<li>Outside vehicle passage and parking areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"la-distance-minimale-entre-la-fosse-et-la-cloture\" class=\"atx\">The Minimum Distance Between the Septic Tank and the Fence<\/h2>\n<p>The rule to remember is therefore simple: your septic tank must be installed at <strong>least 3 meters from your property line<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the fence generally marks this boundary, you must strictly observe this <strong>3-meter distance between the tank and your mesh fence<\/strong> or rigid panels.<\/p>\n<p>This safety distance ensures access for maintenance, avoids neighborhood conflicts, and guarantees that the fence foundations will not damage the system.<\/p>\n<p>This is an essential control point carried out by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.assainissement-non-collectif.developpement-durable.gouv.fr\/le-service-public-d-assainissement-non-collectif-r11.html\">SPANC<\/a> (Public Non-Collective Sanitation Service) during the validation of your installation.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"attention-egalement-a-la-zone-dand39epandage\" class=\"atx\">Also Pay Attention to the Spreading Area<\/h3>\n<p>Sanitation is not limited to the tank alone. This spreading area, which allows treated water to infiltrate the soil, must also be located at a minimum of <strong>3 meters from property boundaries<\/strong> and thus from the fence.  <\/p>\n<p>It is absolutely forbidden to build anything on this area, including pouring concrete pads for fence posts. The soil must remain permeable and must not bear any heavy loads. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"anticiper-son-projet-de-cloture--les-bons-reflexes\" class=\"atx\">Anticipating Your Fence Project: Good Practices<\/h2>\n<p>Before ordering your fence or starting to dig, take the time to thoroughly prepare your project. This is the guarantee of a smooth and compliant installation. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Precisely locate<\/strong> the position of your septic tank, its access manholes, and the treatment area.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Consult the plans<\/strong> of your sanitation installation if you have them. They are a reliable source of information. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Mark the ground<\/strong> with stakes and a string line for the future line of your fence to visually check the distances.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If in doubt<\/strong>, do not take any risks.
