If the fence was installed exclusively on your neighbor’s land, it is considered “private property.” As a result, they are the sole owner. Legally, you have absolutely no right to touch it, not even the side that faces your home directly. <\/p>\n
Conversely, if it is placed exactly across the boundary of your two properties, it is likely “jointly owned.”<\/p>\n

There are still some common-sense rules to follow. First, watch out for drips. Your paint must not overflow onto their side or the thickness of the wall. Next, avoid neon colors or ultra-reflective finishes that could dazzle them all day (what the courts call an “abnormal neighborhood disturbance”).
