Do you wish to create a shaded area on your terrace or in your garden? To create a relaxation space by your pool or simply a convivial area for dining with friends? The bioclimatic pergola is surely what you need. Our experts explain everything in this article.

What is a Bioclimatic Pergola?

The bioclimatic pergola is an outdoor structure designed to optimize the surrounding microclimate. Its roof is composed of adjustable louvers, with which you can adjust the shade and light in the area where the pergola is placed.

It is useful in good weather (UV ray protection) but also during bad weather (rainproof louvers). You can find freestanding pergolas with 4 support posts on the market, or attached pergolas, securely fixed to the facade of a wall of your home, with two support posts at the ends.

The adjustable louver roof can be controlled manually or with a remote control for the motorized version.

How the Bioclimatic Pergola Works

Our experts discuss here what constitutes and defines the specific features of the bioclimatic pergola.

The Aluminum or PVC Louver System

This is the core of the operation and utility of the bioclimatic pergola. The louvers, adjustable as previously mentioned, allow for true regulation of light, ventilation, and heat under the pergola.

This system allows for the creation and management of a microclimate, regardless of the outdoor weather. These louvers are made of aluminum or PVC and will require maintenance, especially if they are in a closed position under the trees on your property.

Motorization for Adjusting Opening and Closing

There are two models: manual and electric. Let’s focus on the latter, which will simplify your life and shared moments. Thanks to a remote control with pre-recorded commands, you can easily operate your pergola and use the appropriate mode for your immediate needs.

You can even find pergolas equipped with LEDs that you can control with the remote, allowing you to enjoy the space even after sunset.

Waterproofing by Louver Inclination

Thanks to the pre-recorded modes in your bioclimatic pergola’s remote control, you will be spared many inconveniences. The different modes (closed, ventilated, shaded, etc.) are designed to simplify use and your daily life.
